REMEMBER THE ALAMO
''Alamo came from Tennessee, that is, true southerners. The title of the group and album already says enough. But don't expect three unbridled solo guitarists trying to see who has the longest one...!! Only the wonderful LARRY RASPBERRY takes on this role in a magnificent way. In 79 the album "NO ACCIDENT" was released, by the way. This band was led by the omnipresent, KEM WOODLEY, also in charge of the liquor-soaked voice and of composing practically the entire LP alone. Good rhythmic cement is built by RICHARD ROSEBROUGH on drums and LARRY DAVIS on bass. Building one of the most compact southern artifacts (in his case the only one!) that can be imagined. The ALLMAN BROTHERS brand is probably their most direct influence, due to Woodley's voice and drive. Although Steppenwolf and Grand Funk Railroad are not far behind. Recorded at the legendary Ardent Studios in Memphis (a friend of mine was there not long ago, they still exist!!), this album is a gem from start to finish, so I'll refrain from highlighting any tracks. How could one of the greatest (and unknown) Southern rock albums be made without three guitars and an organist as the leader? Well, it was ALAMO'' JJ Iglesias
