Durante décadas, Crystal Syphon fue, en el mejor de los casos, una nota al pie en los libros de historia de la música: un nombre en carteles de los días del ballroom psicodélico y un recuerdo entrañable para aquellos que vieron a la banda de Merced, California, actuar en el circuito de la costa oeste a finales de los años 60. Robert Callender, best known as Bobby Callender, was a quite enigmatic African American artist about whom little information is available. It is known that he was a poet, lyricist, composer, and singer from Boston, USA. He was a highly mysterious and mystical figure within the late 1960s psychedelic scene—a musician deeply influenced by spirituality. His spiritual quest led him to develop a close relationship with Hindu culture, a journey that was reflected in his music and the themes he explored. Conceptually, his musical universe showcases the originality born from his artistic freedom. The first two albums he released exemplify this strong conceptual approach, blending diverse styles and motifs. 'Rainbow,' released in 1968, was his debut album—an elaborate work driven by Callender himself, who served as the primary arranger, lyricist, and conceptualist of the project, as well as the vocalist. Each track was shaped to reflect his image. To bring his vision to life, he assembled an extensive ensemble of musicians, including a pianist, two musicians trained in Hindustani music, three bassists, two guitarists, two drummers, and others playing instruments like cellos, trumpets, oboe, among others, with violins added in some passages, notably in the track ‘Autumn.’ its the most 1968 album, ever, sitar, mellotron, hammond and even 17th century clavecin presence is absolute

DONT BE CONFUSED WITH ''Rainbow after the storm'' also from 1968. This authentic orchestra crafted a captivating and unique psychedelic project that fuses pop and folk with Middle Eastern influences, sitar sounds, traditional melodies, pastoral and sunshine pop elements, folk touches, and symphonic string arrangements. At times, it ventures into rhythm & blues and baroque pop, all woven together with a subtle complexity—if one appreciates it, the result can be quite mesmerizing. Several tracks on the album stand out for their complexity, often presented with delicate finesse—a blend of genres that seamlessly marries East and West, pop and sitar, rhythm and jazz, all within an atmosphere of poetic softness. The fusion of styles is highly refined; whether it sounds entirely harmonious or simply engaging, it’s undeniable that this is an exquisite, high-level psychedelic work—delicate, nuanced, and imbued with a profound lysergic potential. It hints at a rainbow (‘rainbow’ being the album’s title), yet simultaneously harbors a certain darkness. This is a well-crafted piece of psychedelic pop, akin to the psychedelic side of The Beatles, notably influenced by Indian music (George Harrison’s contribution) but interpreted with a more poetic vision. It’s quite psychedelic for pop, too fused to be just short songs. The sound is unhurried, carefree about time, constantly evolving—generally slow and melodic. All tracks are nearly handcrafted in their elaboration. For example, ‘Symphonic Pictures’ is as exquisite as it is complex—shifting through psychedelia, rhythm & blues, tribal percussion, symphonic strings, and even somewhat baroque pop within a single piece. An advanced composition for 1968. The track ‘Purple,’ the fourth on the album, runs eleven minutes and exemplifies the strong Hindu influence. It slightly breaks the album’s overall flow, emphasizing the mystical or magical aura of the sound toward a distinctly Hindu direction. The fusion of genres is striking, yet the album never gained recognition as a ‘forgotten classic’—at least not among genre aficionados—so I consider it a true hidden psychedelic gem. After this debut, he released a second album titled ‘The Way (First Book Of Experiences),’ which also explores a diverse mix of genres, completing two high-quality works by the same artist. I’ve come across another album called ‘Le Musee de l’Impressionnisme,’ also bearing his name, but I have no idea if it’s by the same person. Beyond that, I don’t have much information about Callender—his current whereabouts, if he’s still alive, remains a mystery. I’ll close this review with a quote he included on the back cover of his first album: "My rainbow of colors reflects the past and present. La radio que siempre soñe con tener en Fallout, la radio perfecta que fusione la musica de los 40s, 50s y parte de los 60s en lo referente a las raices más puristas del blues y el jazz. Es actual pero podria ser perfectamente de los 80s no sale nada raro, ademas en ocasiones lo capturo en cassette, WMFU  es una emisora que ya estaba haciendo esto en los 60s tenemos algunas grabaciones en nuestra macro coleccion de airchecks pero aqui tenemos unos programas igualmente de primera, lo mejor que he oido desde las puertas del delirio o las islas de robinson

 Estamos ante una nueva era del internet, el canal esta practicmente muerto por culpa de la publicidad y del ''internet muerto'' asi que hemos de buscar nuevas formas de trasmitir la musica sin anuncios online & offline, ya os dije que archive es lo mejor que tenemos pero la velocidad de subida e stremendamente lenta asi que voy a subir a MEGA mi coleccion de airchecks, que para mi sorpresa Mega tiene un reproductor online formidable y se puede acceder tanto via PC como MOVIL. Además he visto que se pueden añadir audios al blog (pero es muy dificil asi que mejor oid online en Mega o archive)... soy retrasado de no haber descubierto algo asi antes.. asi que ahora vas a poder oir musica directamente aqui sin anuncios y el blog va a pasar de nuevo a ser mas importante que el canal como en 2015.  Es increible que blooger te censure ya incluso solo por poner palabrotas.. es uno de los motivos por los que cada vez uso menos esto, ademas los posts es dificil hacer copias de seguridad. Lo siento por los que comentaron el post original, no sabia si dejarlo ya así porque es un post un poco jodido en el sentido que trata un tema incomodo de actualidad no es algo de la epoca pero es algo que personalmente he vivido por desgracia en España, y nuestro amigo Guajo tambien en Mexico, asi que lo voy a hacer de nuevo esta vez yendo más al grano

Vereis en la epoca los vinilos eran la cosa mas normal del mundo, me da mucha tristeza cuando vi el documental de cerebrum y escuchaba sus anecdotas de que se juntaban los colegas a fumar porros en su casa oyendo vinilos de los Allman Brothers, son cosas que nosotros como millenials y ya ni te digo siendo españoles no hemos podido vivir.. yo las pocas veces que he oido vinilos en ese plan me he arrepentido porque luego resulta que esos supuestos amigos eran gentuza, posers de mierda que se ponian con el movil y en seguida se iban, a Guajo de outside inside music le ha pasado parecido.. y esto se debe a que en la epoca los vinilos eran algo muy normal pero a dia de hoy es algo super snoob y estilista, es como abrir una botella de vino.. y claro invitar a alguien para una sesion de escucha de vinilos.. es incluso hasta algo gay a dia de hoy y mas en un pais del tercer mundo como los nuestros.. o invitas a una tia o si invitas a un tio.. yo no lo sabia pero (jajajaja) tanto a guajo como a mi nos ha pasado que sin saberlo hemos invitado a gays perversos y enfermos mentales que iban con otras intenciones.. porque a dia de hoy la musica no entra en la cabeza.. si invitas a alguien para oir vinilos es poco menos que como si lo invitases a una cena.. y aqui entra tambien el tabu de la homosexualidad.. es una enfermedad.. son gente muy perversa y enferma, Hunter S Thompson lo sabia mejor que nadie.. mira como ha acabado Rob Halfort.. es un problema, es algo que no esta bien, mira Charles Manson.. incluso en la epoca era un tabú entre lo hippie pero se sabia.. era algo asqueroso por buenos motivos.. total que a dia de hoy en esta epoca y mas en paises donde el arte y la cultura no valen nada.. cosas así.. no se a quien le guste mucho el cine y tenga un poryector de cojones para ver cine de culto le puede pasar lo mismo.. no te fies de nadie, disfrutalo tu solo y ya esta.. El tio este que tantos problemas nos dio, el del sumergible.. de milagro nunca llegue a oir vinilos con él pero tambien resulto que era otro gay de estos perverso reprimido.. vaya hijos de p**** el wokismo y la social democracia nos han hecho olvidar todo el conocimiento humano basico de la historia, y a dia de hoy no se hemos perdido el sexto sentido para identificar a un gay a kilometros.. ni que decir tiene que esta gent*** casi todos tienen inclinaciones pederastas. Evidentemente no lo decimos de gratis, tuvimos problemas con esta gentuza mas adelante, problemas graves, el hecho de haber descubierto su orientacion es solo una verdad más que tiene relacion con todo.. tantas setas tanto ácido y mira más engañados que nadie.. no ver venir a los vampiros siquicos.. las setas muchas veces es como si te hablasen en lenguaje runico no entiendes nada, luego te acuerdas de alguna manera de los mensajes, la mayoria de veces simplemente no estas preparado para entender o tu mente esta demasiado traumatizada por vivir basicamente en un entorno infernal de pudredumbre y tercer mundismo como es España, no si estas cosas pasaban tambien en la España de la epoca supongo que sí.. También quizas tiene que ver el hecho de haber sido truecels, porque es que a una persona normal una situación así en seguida le habría pasado pero con una tía, y todo normal..

WASP con su Killer Kane, Virgin demos y mas joyas que intentarán reemplazar la herida que Cirith Ungol nos dejo tras el strike que nos metio su abogado,, la banda se disculpo pero la herida ya se quedo. Jason (jasonkont) y yo pensamos que sería una buena idea abrir un nuevo tema con material pre-WASP y de los primeros Wasp con las bandas que finalmente llevaron a WASP a ser una de las grandes bandas. Hay mucho material disperso por la red

La mayoria son las mismas canciones (pero si las escuchas de cerca encontraras 3-4 versiones alternativas de la misma cancion debido a los diferentes rips, bitrates y porque las bandas grabaron las mismas canciones una y otra vez con diferentes formaciones asi que es un completo lio. Se agradece cualquier ayuda para agruparlas. Empiezo con el material que tengo y Jason irá añadiendo. Si alguno de ustedes tiene más o diferente material temprano / información por favor agregue al tema

Killer Kane fue fundado por Arthur 'Killer' Kane en 1975 y publicó un EP en 1976. Entre los miembros de la banda se encontraba el vocalista de W.A.S.P. Blackie Lawless. Con el Mr. Cool EP siendo el único lanzado de la banda, pronto se extinguieron, sin embargo muchos fans de W.A.S.P han estado tratando de conseguir esto ya que esta canción fue replicada por W.A.S.P en el álbum Last Command más tarde. Something atypical, what we're reviving today. A group of students whose final project in high school was to record an album. And they pulled it off more than adequately. Wisconsin, 1974. Final presentation of their homework and the release of 500 copies, I imagine sponsored by the university. These copies were distributed among classmates and friends. Today, it's a collector's grail within the underworld of psych rock obscurities (with prog moves). So, when listening to it, you have to keep in mind that they were as much a "group" as the duration of the school year. Thomas S. Henry, Bob Maloney, Doug Lemirande, Henry Erkelenz, and Laura Sekeefer. I don't know what instrument each one played. But what a class the kids had. I imagine they got an A."You Can't Come In" (5'40) captured a clean group sound, with a rhythm section that launches a very fine lead guitar. In quasi-jazzy-Hendrixian developments. Frank Marino sometimes takes on that role! Imagine the charming rural magnetism of Highway or White Summer. The dazzling jam continues, now with added wah wah, in "African Boogie" (4'29). A bit of funk as seasoning and a rhythm as attention-grabbing as the exquisite lead guitar. In "Golden Valley" (3'53) the introductory bass rhythm resembles "Don't Be Cruel," but the psychedelic change is imminent and fortunate. It's the first with a boy-girl voice and stylistic similarities to Sapphire Thinkers or Jefferson Airplane. Agility and instrumental fluidity with micro-nods to Hendrix. Back to the drawing board (I imagine... I have the CD, which is already quite a lot!), and "Blue Bird" (4'04) displays their characteristic style of melodic elegance. Because it turns out they have it. They really seem like a cohesive band formed a few years ago. Here we can talk about de facto progressive rock, with very good changes and subtle textures. "Eyes of the Raven" (4'30) has a remarkable male lead vocal; they don't sound amateurish at all. With dreamy jazz arpeggios in a spectacularly crafted psych context. Think Jerry Garcia and you won't be far behind. Another acidic composition with a fertile imagination. The Hendrix feel returns without taking it to the limit, in "Arabian Style" (5'50). West Coast finesse of sybaritic taste and John Cipollina-esque arabesques, in a lysergic instrumental convention. An anonymous marvel in short, one of those that were forgotten by the wayside of history. In fact, it's a miracle we can even talk about something that started as a short-lived school project. Arma Reforger Vietnam Mod AFVN RADIO OST v.1.0.30 may 2025

Damnn! new AFVN compilation for Arma Reforger is super cool, maybe the best Vietnam War Era music compilation ever made.. very passionate and perfectly based on our last experiences in game since 2023 putting music through mics, i will miss putting music through mic but this is better. I always dreamed with an online 24/7 radio station in-game then the music repertoire is infinite, and plsylist history to see the songs of your last gameplays but that's impossible and never done in games, because optimisation and stuff. Were too much deep into 60s underground that is impossible for us to make a repertorire like this because we're too much into pure LSD, this album remember me to the origins when i started listenning music back in nam as a young teenager. Mafia 3 compilation was good but its too much music and i understand it needs to be sumarized for a fps game like this

70 tracks best of Vietnam including very rare and good AFVN jingles, all of them in MONO to sounds more realistic in game, limited to 16000 Hz as in old games but still sounding good at 256 Kbps, game original EQ for civilian radios is very good

VA- HEAVY METAL vol 1 Astan Records 1984 [1970-1978]

 Posiblemente el mejor recopilatorio de metal jamás hehco en vinilo, me he permitido el lujo de añadir uno más que no podia faltar, el Fireball de Deep Purple. Se trata de un recopilatorio sueco de Astan records del año '84, pensaba que era español porque lo he visto ''mucho por España. Alegraos de que lo traiga porque he comprado practicamente el último ejemplar que quedaba, esta costando mas de 300€ y es que ciertamente es un recopilatorio muy bueno, teniendo tres grandes discos uno de ellos un directo de Motorhead no oficial del '78. En mi caso os he añadido además otro bootleg inaudito del '77 para que vayais de sobrado. El volumen 2 segun he mirado tiene metal de finales de los 70s y de los 80s y el tercero puramente de los 80s. Los otros no los he podido conseguir ni siquiera en soulseek. Increible la fuerza del vinilo para ''remasterizar'' bootlegs de la época, los 70s se reparaban ellos solos, la era digital ha jodido todo, antes hast la saturación molaba, era imposible cagarla con los cassettes
